When Polly and Thaddeus were living on Haste Street they supplemented their income--sort of--by writing and submitting articles and stories.

 

My favorite was the suggestion that to make your own air conditioner you take a vacuum cleaner that had a painting attachment and fill it with ice.  Turn it on and it will blow cool air on your apartment (editors note: it didn't work).  There was another one where we won a contest, and we won a cigarette case and two other things and I took them down to a pawn shop and turned them in.  We didn't sell much stuff.
